An amazing magmatic dorf adventure!
So me and some people from #hi are doing some stuff with dwarf fortress. I got the first year, so I get the first post.
It goes me then BishopONE and possibly other people.
Summary of Year 1 (Thorn)
We started off in a fairly flat area with many ponds. Good water, good wood and good food. I began digging into the ground immediately. I made a hole in the ground, since there were no cliffs. We dug two levels down, and made a trading post. Near the trading post we made the first of the main stairs, our first farm (which grows dimple cups year round), and a storage area with a dump attached to the Depot.
On the next level, we constructed several workshops: mason, jeweler, engineer?, and carpenter. I attached the engineer and mason shop to a stone storage room. I gave the other workshops their own storage rooms, as well.
Once that was done, we began mining. We mined about 6 levels down, picking up any resources as we went. During this period, Goden Akruldastot, a bowyer, was possessed. We did not have the workshop he wanted, so he went insane at the beginning of Winter. He went berserk and was killed by my dwarves. Luckily, nobody was seriously injured. His body was dumped unceremoniously in the wild, as we were too busy with other things to give him a proper burial. Perhaps later. We finished mining downwards to discover a very large cave. We walled the cave off and left the floor, not wanting to mine down or around it any further. On the level above this floor, we began constructing living quarters. We had just finished making the bedrooms and office when Spring came, and now it is BishopONE's turn.
We had two waves of immigrants, one liaison, and one caravan. Our population is now 20.
