Mirror's Edge (Half review + your opinion)
Well this is a parkour based game i picked up today and its pretty fun......

Well your a runner called Faith and the world is constantly monitered, you get messages around from place to place with out anyone knowing. But soon you stumble across your sister who is standing over a dead body who was shot with her gun. Your sister is acused of killing the man and your off to find out who really did it and thats all i know.

But anyway gameplay-wise,the game is played in first-person. You have jump, duck and attack but you can do different moves depending how your position what move you did last and how fast you are going. The game really gets going when you start stringing these together and keep going forward at a fast pase. The game is based on trail and error and you do die 5-10 times (even more) in a chapter but its so fun you dont even care or get angry when you die.

Combat is not encouraged, but when you do have to punch some one in the face it is satisfying. You can run up and just pumble them till they fall on the ground or you can do a slide kick in the nuts and also you can do a wall run and kick them in the face. You can also disarm an opponent when they attack you and use there weapon but the dissarm has to be preformed at the right time when thier gun turns red or they just hit you in the face.

The guns on the other hand feel a-bit weak, when you fire them there is barley any recoil and when you shoot some one to death they dont go ragdolling straight away, or i wasnt close enough (or maybe the shotgun does that). The guns slow you down and affect your ability to monouver and they also cannot be reloaded (I think, because when i waste a clip im just carrying an empty gun). The guns in my opinion, is just a gimmick and is just another way to play the game.

The graphics in the game are great and also alittle disapointing. Its a very bright sort of polish, you can see you own body when you look down and you can also see your shadow, which is a nice touch. But when you get up close to inspect some of the textures they seem some-what blurry. Theres also a bit of screen tear and jaggies up close and far away.

The hint system in Mirrors Edge is called "Runner's Vision" which is just tells you what objects you can interact with, but this also shows you the slowest way to do things. Its more enjoyable when you turn this off and the reticule, since its up to you to determine which way is the fastest and adds some challenge to it

In the end when you think about it, you will only enjoy this game if you can deal with the constant dying and the holdups, to try and find out how to get to a certain spot. But since i do parkour myself maybe this is why i like the game so much.
