The primary tip is that: If you don't know what you're doing, that's fine. However, you probably want to avoid democracies and pick good co-leaders if you're going to make your own clan.
They're the oldest, unless you're counting the dead clans such as Evil and SMASH that haven't actually been officially killed and deleted, for reasons unknown to me.
Also Guru is ancient, but still very much alive.
My advice is take your time with your clan, there is no rush to crank it out.
Pick members who you get along well with, and who
everyone else in the clan gets along with, trusts and respects.
This way the clan will hopefully remain loyal to each other.
This loyalty is, in my opinion what makes a clan great. If you look at all the rosters of the clans people describe as great, you will see that they have barely changed, if at all from how it was when the clan first started out, aside from a few extra recruits as the clan grows.
Also, just like how steveirwin said, most clans grew in the game playing with each other. When RAWR was started back in the day, myself, MANtrain, NutHug and BenDover were ALL white belts, and that's the truth.
Also, it just takes time to build up respect within a community, it won't happen instantly, you just gotta be patient with everything and shit will happen... Eventually.
Good luck with your clan.
