Texas rewriting books
Hooray! Looks like for the next 10 years American kids won't learn about who the hell Thomas Jefferson is, and instead learn about John Calvin (a French pastor and theologian from 1500's). And that's just one of many brilliant changes Texas muscled into public school curriculum...

Surely they'll still learn about the other parts of how Jefferson is important, or at least that was how yahoo's article came across to me.

In Tennessee, we actually have to spend almost a week before the state final going over random facts that are related to our state. The AP US history teacher hates it, but she has to do it or else we would fail. It's a pretty big waste of time and even more trivial.

I'm wondering though, how come the changes just in the state of Texas would also spread to the whole country's curriculum?

Texas is a market leader in school-textbook industry.
A lot of states will be using those books.

Ah, silly Americans thinking the rest of the world will have any effect from this.

That's fucking retarded. That's like saying the Soviets weren't communists but just nice people that liked to share.

The doctrine parts bother me more than the stuff on Calvin tbh, it's fucking bending history towards the conservatives.

Democrats do the exact same thing. Both parties are corrupt but we vote on whose the least corrupt.
