Planning on getting nvidia gtx 460. Need help
So im planning on upgrading my graphics card to a gtx 460 and I do know I need a better power supply since I only have 450 watts. Other than that will I need to upgrade anything else?

Computer specs:
CPU:Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU E6500 @ 2.93GHz RAM: 3GB

RAM: 3GB

Video Card: NVIDIA GT 240 2GB VRAM

Windows 7 64-bit

So what do you think could be the cheapest cpu out there that could handle the card?
(My budget is up to a $150 cpu)

The CPU you have now will 'handle' it (as far as I know), it is just that it will hold your system back.

You will need advice from someone who knows more about CPUs than I do for this question.
Well thanks for the help Gorman i guess this can be closed now?

EDIT: Woah screw the 470 just found a great deal on a nvidia gtx 550 Ti for only $130

However, the 470 will perform better than the 550. Just because the number is bigger doesn't mean that it is better, in fact, it's about 20% better overall.
The 4/5 is the series and the second two digits are the chipset, which is often more important when the series are sequential.

EDIT: Oh, wait, you switched between 470 and 460. Either way those two would both be better than the 550.

AFAIK: the first digit of Nvidia cards is series number (higher is better for power consumption, heat and quality etc), the next one is the cards 'power' (7 > 5, etc). The last one indicates if the card is one of the same but a smaller model due to shrunk dye (eg the 295 is the 290 with smaller dye width, so less power less heat, etc).

Just felt like saying that.
Well I guess ill stick with the 460 since you guys explained what the numbers meant. Plus it comes with just cause 2 and mafia 2 for only $109.99 all in total. Thank you guys.
