@Kaya
I've played guitar for about 6/7 years now I think. A lot of trouble that people have when they're starting is either not pushing down hard enough on the strings or accidentally blocking certain strings. Here's this:
Not pushing down hard enough:
When you don't push down hard enough on the frets you often get 'fret buzz', where the note is hit, but it quickly fades - your hold on the fret isn't tight enough creating a buzzing sound rather than a clear note. It can also makes the chord sound short and have no sustain. A good way to get over that is just to practice, your fingers'll hurt but eventually they'll toughen up and you'll get calluses/hard skin on your finger tips. If you still can't get it, try creating single clear notes: pluck the fifth fret of each string individually making sure you can push down hard enough to get a clear sound.
Blocking strings:
'Blocking' a string is when you place your hand on the string but don't push down on any fret, creating a hard, sometimes muted sound. It's used a lot in songs and is a technique but it often happens when you try and form a chord and your fingers aren't on one string only like they should be. I see it all the time: people play a chord but the bottom of their finger is blocking the strings or the tip of their finger is touching against the string above or below it, blocking it and preventing it from creating any noise.
So yeah: raise your fingers a bit so they aren't touching against any string they shouldn't be, making sure each finger being used is on it's own string and push down hard. Practice helps a lot. Do some of that and learn songs that you enjoy, playing music is the best thing ever.
