HTOTM: FUSION
I don't exactly remember how we got it, but we somehow got a trojan once. I really freaked out because of what Defender Pro does when it detects one: the shrieking monster thing... Scared the crap out of me.
But it got fixed and recently it just failed so we had to get Vista... well, at least it's "shiny."

No, it's just the noise the Defnder Pro made when it said we had one.
It would be pretty weird if they did have viruses that could do that...

I didn't notice that my anti virus had ran out, turns out we hadn't had one for about 3 years. I downloaded AVG and scanned. I had over 200 tracking cookies and 28 trojans, none of them were bad ones but still. :P

I never had a virus. In DOS, Windows 3.1, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows XP or now Linux. And I only had an antivirus program about 40% of the time.

I have seen MANY viruses though, I work in computer repair. Most "viruses" nowadays are just crap. 90% of the viruses are just minor hacks that change registry settings in Microsoft, and lock people out.

Free programs, to clean and maintain Microsoft
Get spybot search and destroy http://www.safer-networking.org/ and use the immunize function. Scanning also is good.
Get a squared free http://www.emsisoft.com/en/software/free/ very good scanner.
CCleaner http://www.ccleaner.com/ cleans out all the temporary stuff, cookies, and other garbage that collects. Also has a very good registry cleaner. Run it a few times till system is clean.
