I think people around 10-12 CAN surf the internet and chat, if they are responsible.
I am 12, I have lotsa friends online, but if you ask them, they don't much about me.
I don't watch porn, I find it stupid.
Once, a cousin of a friend of mine said he had a website where you could download gadgets for your computer.
I said "Ok, I'll check it out =)".
I arrived at the website, and there was porn ads between every download. No exageration.
I also play Toribash, and I'm no satanic murderer.
My parents do accept that I play +18 games, unless it has sexual content, because they know I don't give a crap and I can handle it. (My parents are awesome =])
I delete my internet historic, but I don't watch porn, I just delete it for privacity. It would be pretty cool if my dad used my computer and found a bunch of "Nyan Cat" pages *_*" He's cute =3

But I would just like to say that I think that freedom on the internet should not be limited, as many people have said before me; to understand things you like/don't like you have to try it. If your parents don't let you try it then you're not going to know what things are like or understand them. And I am not talking about porn. I am talking about general things in the world that most young people who don't spend time on the internet do not know. I think that all the things on the internet are interested and a good source of information. What do you use when you need information at school? I am also on the internet every day. I am normally on from around 10am - 2am I don't have any problems and neither do my parents. I think that the internet has helped me get to where I want in life, and has helped me get the qualifications I have now.
