Well basically, in most of Europe and Latin America, there is a name in the calender associated with every day. For example, my "Name Day" is on the August of 26th.

This thing can get a bit out of hand tho. For example, here, we have christmas on the 24th of December. And one of my friends (named Adam) was born on Christmas. The name associated with the 24th of December? Adam.
He has his birthday, nameday and christmas on the same, gosh darn day
