Isaac, if you think about it, getting 1 tc per post isn't much of a boost.

If i had 8000 posts, it's just 8k, which IMO is not much, since 8k posts takes a while

Then .01 tcs per post...that's like 80 tcs, for 8000 posts. It wouldn't encourage people at all XD

BTW what happened to the "This post was helpful" thing i saw yesterday?

Or was that just in certain boards?

BTW about my shop:
The old quotes formed a box, which I used to put groups of heads in, and it looked natural.

The new ones are open ended with the " and those look really out of place :/

It doesn't look bad, just not as good.

Oh ya, well I guess now that I think about it :P.


Ok so I have this idea instead. Users can vote on a post if they think its good, and mods/admins have a little section where they can view all the votes, and reward the person if its actually good. There is no de-vote option though.

I still don't like voting ideas, because it'll inevitably get spammed.

I figure that the moderators should be active enough to find them themselves...

If you were to give voting a go, make it a power and give it only to trusted members of the community, and record the votes, like a public poll, they'd only be able to vote once.

Also; threads with good ratings should linger around on the first page, and slowly drift away when more threads are made and rated.

Just a suggestion, didn't really think it through so much.

Ya but this isnt like that, people just vote if its good there is no down vote button, but the admins/mods review it and can either delete it from seein any more votes of that post or like reward it.

perhaps people under mods, like mini-mods, would have a vote feature for individual posts.
Vote masters could go about, voting up good stuff and down bad stuff, and if you accumulated enough positive votes, you got some bonus tc. like 100 up votes total or something.
and infractions could count as 3 negative votes.

No voting systems whatsoever. I dislike the idea, and they will be abused regardless of how hard we try to keep them from not being abused.

Maybe give people in power the ability to reward for good posts (as in, cash bonus) and smite for bad posts (deduct money). Give people what they like, and hit them where it hurts. Along with infractions, of course. Or maybe make it so that an infraction pulls away X amount of money from the infracted person? While it's certainly more whip than carrot, it might make people think twice before posting like, pardon me, idiots. Sure, getting infracted/banned is nasty, but an added monetary penalty would make it even nastier. Along with a reward-button, this might encourage good posts. There's undoubtably some flaws in it SOMEWHERE, but honestly, which strategy hasn't? >.>

In short, maybe make infractions/bans deduct TC from the perpetrator, and maybe give people in power a reward button. In case of rich people being able to "afford" being infracted, maybe a percentage removed instead of a fixed amount.
