Err... do you means that blurry background? I never know about photography thing, but I saw in a lot of picture that they have a blurry background(maybe for more focus on the character?). Maybe I did something wrong with it, can you tell me more specific which one that I need to fix?
It's more like looking at a photograph of a model, and there being rubbish and dirty rags lying around. You come to look at the model, for what ever the reason may be. You focus on what they are wearing, their body, and perhaps a touch of their personality as an afterthought. If their advertisement is selling sexy lingerie, you usually don't want to see that they're staying in a pigsty.
Blurring the background is great for authenticity/likeness of a photograph, don't get me wrong. It's just that you payed such great attention to the female, but you neglected the background like an unwanted child. Blur it, sure, but it's up to you whether or not you want it to look as full and vibrant as your drawing's focus (female).
