(the quality got ruined :C)
to speak upon the Freudian symbolism portrayed atop the Capcom hero, MegaMan's helmet is simple. being that this is a north american release of MegaMan symbolism does not lie only in the peculiar armour placed on Megaman, but also the backdrop surrounding him. note that the MegaMan story line takes place in an unknown time, but indicated to be somewhere in the distant future; written to be, 20XX in most cases. in the story we also see that MegaMan, being a computer generated being, only lives in the digital world. while this backdrop indicates, that the scene is on Earth, somewhere near the Bahamas. how have I come to this conclusion you ask? I noticed the two palm trees placed in the top left corner of the cover. this was not the only thing that caught me off guard. in the original MegaMan, MegaMan is know to have a hand that has the ability to turn into a plasma gun. in this rendition, MegaMan is holding a 9mm Glock Model 26. stirring yes? why would a digital being from the future be using a handgun invented in 1982? now back to the wardrobe, mainly, the helmet. ignoring the missing visor, seen in the earlier, more accurate renditions of MegaMan, we see a protruding golden phallus atop MegaMan's cranium. what could this mean? well, this is a clear indication of reverse Freudian symbolism. MegaMan is a digital being right? well he is also controlled by a human counterpart named Lan. Lan controls MegaMan's movements in battle phases. meaning he has the power to
control MegaMan's mind. this golden phallus atop MegaMan's head, indicates that he has a top notch cranial system, in which he can control himself. portraying free will rather than dictatorship control. in conclusion, this north American release of MegaMan symbolizes free will, and being your own person in the world.
