Just a quick idea that one of my friends made: simultaneous battles.
It would involve multiple small squares/circles/dojos as "mats", spread apart, where in each one, two players would go up against one another. If you are to land outside of the area you were placed in (including another mat) you would be eliminated. It could also function as a ladder; the victorious players would move on to the "next round", where it would continue up until there are two left, where they could fight to the death.
Another idea that I made, derived by the extra people battling at once, is team battles. Team battles, as you'd expect, involves 4+ players, equal amounts on each team, pitting against one another. Once all players on a single team are eliminated, or the time runs out, the team with the remaining players (or more points) would be victorious.
One final idea I have is "multi-battles". It involves 3 - 4 players, all against one another. This one could lead up to great chaos, and, other than the extra players, it would function as a normal battle. It could also be used together with the idea of simultaneous battles and/or team battles.
Been suggested many times, and was actually possible for a while, it however proved really buggy and slow.
Maybe eventually we'll see it but most not some time soon.
However this will never happen because
1. Barely anybody's computers would be able to run the game with team battles, which would get boring because you would be vsing the same people over and over.
considering that core population of toribash play it because their ancient notebooks left to them by their older relatives can't run anything else, then yes, you are correct.
but it doesn't mean that you need a beast pc to play it. it meast that you need to have a computer that was bought in store, not found in garbage can.
2. As stated above people wouldn't be able to run it, but it would be plausible if Team Toribash decided to change the physic's engine to a less CPU intensive one, but this would completely screw over competitive play since there would be a possibility for the momentum with the joints to have a slight delay on the movement, maybe the tori/uke themselves had major differences how they react, there are already some differences but there could be a possibility for those differences to increase.
what the fuck is team toribash? and believe me, the problem with tb is not the OMG COMPLEX CALCULATIONS but complete lack of optimization. it doesn't use anything more than one core as far as i remember.
changing the engine is fine and surely will lead to some misc changes but it would not "screw over competative play" what a bs is that? cs, css and csgo had different engines and these 3 are still quite competative.
3. If the first 2 ideas didn't influence your decision to make another thread about the same topic this one should. This feature will NEVER be added, even if it was only people with custom computers would be able to run this because it would be using too much Memory even on my 3 year old custom comp its still using 954,144 K. which is alot just imagine 3v3 it would be 6x that amount, or even more. So everyone who thinks that these features would be a major asset for this game, please dont create another thread about this, i beg you. I dont feel like reading though pages of complete and utter garbage with everyones ideas on how this will work, which it definitely improbable that it will ever happy.
what the fuck is custom computer anyway? do you mean a computer may be?
and 3 years is qute old. my pc is 3 years old atm, yet it somehow manages to run crap like bf3 on max. so, may be it have to do somehing with specs you got? $ 200 pc is not really qualified to be considered as lolwhat? "custom computer" especially if it's 3 years old by now.
yeah, currently there are only 3 dev's which wouldnt be enough to fortake in such a project
Wrong again ^. You have to have a team of devs for a game like toribash.
