Roger Ebert doesn't give an A for effort. And quality doesn't improve if you lower the standards.
Think about how you turn a book into a movie. A book you can stop, re-read, find details, etc. while in a movie it pulls you along and you don't have control. The same goes for replay to movie. And you can add music, but what good is adding music if it's not relevant in some way to the video? Effects, or lack thereof, also play into this.
