it's not a waste of his money if he seen them worthy enough to share to his friends. stop being so self centered. just because you didn't like them, doesn't mean that they aren't a good band.

you aren't the consumer in the capitalist sense, since you didn't buy anything, and since music is an art from, it cannot be quantified in 'good-ness'. You are in no position to judge a group of musicians who are clearly good enough to sell albums.
