Fraps is good for in-game videos, and you can download a trial version. But for desktop activities or photoshop or anything like that I prefer CamStudio
I see a lot of people on YouTube using Fraps and Hypercam. Both are good quality. And this is off topic but I can't believe you got the name "Me."

Fraps is free, but it has a shitty watermark unless you purchase it. Camstudio is completely free, and decent for videos aside from gaming. Hypercam is pretty decent as well at capturing certain parts of the screen, also need purchase to remove the watermark.

Disregard money being a factor I'd just like to know what can record at the best quality for the least amount of "lag" when playing a game that is heavy on graphics.

Thanks in advance, if this is in the wrong place feel free to move it.

He doesn't care if he needs to pay for it.

FRAPS is hands down the best for recording games, it's what I use for everything I do, including my Toribash videos.

Otherwise Camtasia Studio is very good for screen recording in general.
We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time.
