That is all.

Laptop - you can't upgrade it
Desktop - you can upgrade it

That's the main difference in my eyes.
heres a pro and cons list i came up with

Desktop (What I use)
---------------------------
Pros:

Better 'bang for your buck'
Better performance
Cheaper
Customizable and upgradable

Cons:

Costs more electric wise
Not portable
Takes up alot more space
Requires desk etc.
Wires can be very messy outside and inside.

Laptops
-----------

Pros:

Portable
Conveniant for traveling
Good for school
Required in college
Cleaner look

Cons:

Less performance
Battery life can suck
Expensive
Not Customizable

i hope this helped

CPU, PSU, mobo, GPU is all you can't upgrade in laptop. Well, the main bits.
Things that it is practical to upgrade like RAM and hard-drive (the main things you would upgrade) can be upgraded easily.

To upgrade GPU requires sending the laptop to the manufacturer. I don't think you can upgrade CPU.

I don't think that factor is as important as price.
laptop cpu's can be upgraded but it's hard to find upgrades for them

some of the more common cpu upgrades for new laptops are the core i7 laptop cpus, at least from what i've seen.

You don't say?
I say laptops if you travel around and don't like sitting at a desk all the time.
Though some Desktops can be really good and great for running games.

Also if your getting a Windows DON'T get Vista, its like poking yourself in the eye with a fork! I strongly recommend Mac.
hi.
