It is kinda cheating when we are the only ones with sentients.

We have only been around (let alone dominant) for a tiny fraction of time when dinosaurs ruled the Earth.

But yes, our competitive advantage - our brain - allows for some wicked hax in the game of life.

Also, when you say a doctor is worth more than a murderer, you (likemost people) are subconsciously applying a specific criteria for worth: decency, value to society, etc. And that's fine, so long as you recognize that some odd agents can have a different criteria.
What about you as an agent, what do you think? Is a doctor's life worth more than that of a murderer?

The way I see it, nobody is really "worth" anything apart from what they do in the realm of human beings. By and large we all just fuck things up on an ecological level, and aside from the meanings and values we have created we are pretty worthless, and usually more detrimental than anything.

OP, define 'valuable'
[19:39] <Birdflu> I'm just sad that I can't give myself one
[19:39] <Birdflu> I'd have a great time

Of course I'm setting out a criteria, without that there would be no way to hold one life above another, or even on equal standing.
I'm using a basic framework of Utilitarian standards, tweaked with some of my own input because it isn't specifically mentioned in the original workings of it.
Yes, I realize others may have different criteria or standards, but most people would agree that the more lives saved/helped, the better.

Cogito ergo sum. I think therefor I exist.

I know it's true because it says so right here in this signature.

I would also like to add to this that people tend to judge the "value" of something/someone related to themselves.

An ill man will most likely value the doctor over the murderer, whereas someone else may find the murderer more valuable.

No it's not. My value is objective, and my value can beat up your value.
