cept that isn't what people think when making war

point of view 1: this will make me/my government rich, I should go for it

point of view 2: this will end up causing too much harm for too little gain, not worth it

I believe the US came in late in WW1.

Anyway, I think that if you are involved with a war, and the war is not fought on home soil, your economy will experience an increase
My seniority means you should probably just agree with everything I say
Wars are just Idiot Countries fighting for territory or another good material. Wars are just to show "who is own" in the world.
To the Americans, Wars are the best way to earn money, because U.S.A. just sell their weapons and earn with this. The wars are ever away from U.S.A. This made the U.S.A. overpowered. The world can disappear if another World War happens again.
If any country starts another world war at 21st Century, he need to won the prize of the best idiot of the world.

Edit: I'm from Brazil, a pacific country. Sry if my english is bad, but I just try.

i have to agree with ceifeiro.

if for any reason have a 3rd world war, the destruction of it will be so big that the world will turn again to age of Bows, Arrows, Swords and stuff like that.
:^)
Yes, war is the way. Yeah, it gets nasty and innocent people die, but it's helped keep the planet from becoming over populated. War gets rid of nasty dictators and people who would love nothing more than to hurt you, your family, and anyone else you love. War stimulates economies (Or ruins them) and produces jobs. All in all, the pros of war outweigh the cons. Don't let my first reason for war hurt your feelings, it's the sad truth. Oh and one more thing.. if country bashing begins in this thread, I'm closing it. Keep this clean.

War exists because one countries interests conflicts with another countries interests. There are so few wars only because countries value money as a higher interest than their other beefs with eachother. Thus countries trade with eachother (capitalism). Wealth creates wealth. The countries that have wars, either civil or not, are almost always poor 3rd world countries. The reason why America and other bigger countries get involved with these conflicts is to stay in favour with their allies, who, chances are, have some financial interest in that country, or because America has an interest in the country. War is needed to keep the rich rich. And there's nothing wrong with that.

Keeps the planet from getting overpopulated?
Overpopulation is a problem because of wars.
War destroys infrastructure, lets companies exploit poor countries and all that fancy stuff. Overpopulation is a problem because of poverty.
If they had proper places to live, their own production chains, infrastructure and all that fancy stuff they could live like we do.
But naah, lets just kill them all in some wars, much easier, right?

Sure, the people in Kongo, Sudan, Afghanistan, Pakistan who have a living in an endless war are marching the streets with joy because they get to kill the bad guys. Somalians are playing pirate just for fun, too.
In Afghanistan the US troops are basically fighting their old allies, the ones who got their weapons from the US back then when Russia was still the leading country of the Axis of Evil.
There is an invisible border from Eritrea, Sudan in the east over Chad, Cameroon and Nigeria to the Ivory Cost because of Christins fighting muslims and the other way around. I guess that does not count since it happens in countries you hardly ever hear from.
That stimulation of economy you speak of could be called exploiting the losers. Nokia makes huge profits with minerals from Kongo.
Rich countries also lose job opportunities since the slaves in South America, China and Africa are so much cheaper. Berkshire Harthaway has produced in poor countries for years. People working at least 16 hours a day who still are hardly able to feed their families with the money they earn… Warren Buffet is a genius, man.

The USA throws all the money they have and don't have into wars they should not care about. Bankrupt states are good for the economy, I know.

Isreal, a country under the protection of the US, keeps invading Palestine. Because we all know Palestinians are terrorists, right?
Or the time the US helped turning Chile into a dictatorship by helping Pinochet attack La Moneda totally served democracy.

Who cares about some innocent people dying if the bad guys die in the end, right?
I would love to live in that wonderland where war serves that good purpose you speak of.
War does not serve a purpose, it just exists and destroys .

I respect your opinion about this subject, but I'm still pressed toward cramming my views down your throat. Anyway, war has a purpose whether you like it or not. It will always exist, and it will always be a part of life. You don't like war? Fine, let's just leave Egypt and let Gadhafi keep bombing his own people. War has to exist in the long run. Humans are incapable of ever developing a permanent and peaceful resolve. I doubt you could live a conflict free life.
