What I think they should do is : Show the reputation (Tivo's Idea), show who -rep/+rep who (Samule's Idea) and show the number of +rep/-rep.

i don't know about here but every other forum i've been on has this problem.
the biggest assholes who contribute absolutely nothing have very high rep.
and some really cool people have none or are even way below zero .

Well usually on this forum the people who contribute, have high rep. And people who make pointless posts, and don't contribute have 0 or less.

I sort of agree as well. It is annoying that some people abuse the system by
randomly -rep'ing people for no reason whatsoever, but it's nice to know what
the community generally thinks of you.
But i vote for the idea of making the rep non-anonymous, so that the previously
mentioned -reppers may be busted...

I would also like to add that making useless reps defeats the purpose of the system. The purpose of a negative rep is because someone has scammed, made a rude comment, or something to that effect. The purpose of a + rep is rep someone if they make a good post or a USEFULL post.

Maybe we should just have a button, saying whether it should show or not.

This reminds me of the Karma system from a long time ago which basically worked the same way as rep...
Someone got pissed off because his karma points were in the negatives... so he complained about it, and got karma taken out

I kinda agree though about this one... generally these days, people give karma for the dumbest reasons.

Karma sounds lot better than rep :O

It was basically the same thing as rep... except i think you didnt leave comments with karma
