i see what you mean,i remember minecraft when it was in alpha,it was simplistic and easy.now its a very different game.
Finally back on toribash!
I myself was introduced to Toribash 3 years ago, by my friend. And now, he has quit Toribash since I started to play this game, because he thought that Toribash is hard to play. I once thought like that, but after some practices, I got addicted to it.

I've introduced this to some of my friends. They were interested at first, but got bored soon because they think was too hard. They even thought that I was 'the best' because I could play this game, before I showed them Toribash videos.
.
I've told about my friends too, but they quit because it's impossible for them.
The problem is that people want games that give them fun right away, and at the start, like Erth said, Toribash looks like a 16x16 rubik's cube, so people don't want to play it.
Toribash only gets fun after you get good at it, and hands down, this game is hard. And people hate hard games because of the frustration, but imo they need to start doing something challenging like Toribash, because once you get good at it, no one can quit this game.
oh yeah
There are only three players of toribash from my country. I tried introducing toribash to my country's official gaming community and only four people tried the game. They gave up saying it's too difficult to play.
I do think toribash's unique genre needs more reputation and support but we also can't deny the fact that it is ultra hard for newbies and gaining more players is naturally difficult for toribash.
I suggest one of our experienced players review Toribash with mmohut over skype or something. We need a lot more players.
Dose is dead.
(Hey Josh :P)

It would be hard considering the fact that you can't play Toribash without practice (lots of it).
And today people prefer the games they can just jump into and win, the learning curve with Toribash is huge, I've been playing for 3 years and its still difficult sometimes :S

To make toribash more popular, do these three things:

2) Link your account to facebook.

2) Make the tutorial so fucking easy, that shit; take out the tutorial and hire live toribash pros to mentor every player, or give new players tons and tons of moves, and a reminder system that reminds them of such moves during battle, so that the learning curve isn't a bad thing

3) Include bots in the servers that advertise google, and suck just enough to let the players beat them.

Well, that's what runescape did (More or less)
the inner machinations of my mind are an enigma
Honestly, I think that this wouldn't be a good idea.
The increasing demand to play toribash would cause hell for our staff.
There would have to be a much larger server client, so that toribash could deal with that kind of popularity.
I would also have to say that... more players would cause our community to break apart, and not communicate as well as we do now, because think of it like a small town. Everyone knows everybody. And almost everyone is friendly. Now compare that to a city. Way too many people/too much diversity. Understandable?

More staff can be arranged if needed.
Servers can be enlarged if needed. (More players=more money in theory)
And supposing that the learning curve is easier and friends of friends join the game, the new members that join should actually be half decent. There are still clans and such for those who prefer to be introverted with their circle of friends.
I see what you are saying... hmm...
Well I guess that being said I agree with this change that needs to take place
Thanks Solax for shedding some needed light on the subject.
