Not to be rude, but pointing out the obvious does not make my decision any easier.

And it is not as easy as "what do you like most", it goes further than just becoming a marine or getting into any military branches, the jobs are very specific, and you won't be labeled as just a marine, there are mechanics, medics, recons, sappers (not all of these are mescessarily in the marines) para rescue soldiers, and so on. Please do not try to help if you are not very educated in the American armed forces.

Please take no offense in that.

It really all depends on how "gung-ho" you are about the military. If you're a guy who wants to do a tour or two, and then stop or go back to college from there, the Navy or the Air Force are two good options.

The Navy in particular travels a ton; my uncle is a Seabee (an engineering platoon) and he's been to Iran, Dubai and Afghanistan. The Air Force is the least "gung-ho" of the military divisions, and they usually have the best living quarters. Sometimes, Air Force operatives stay in hotels, because flying planes is a technical skill, so pilots need to be well fed and rested. This might get you a bit of crap though, as the Air Force is frequently called the "Chair Force"

If you want to do more than a couple tours, or want a serious military experience, the Marines and the Army are your best bets. I'm not the most informed about these two branches, but I do know that their PFT's (Physical Fitness Tests) are much more rigorous than the Navy or Air Force's. Also, the Army and Marines are involved in more top-secret missions than the Navy or Air Force, so if you're looking to be in Special Ops, the Army is a good place to start.
1. Marines boot camp is the longest and hardest of all branches
2. Airforce is the easiest drill instructors are nicer
3.Navy isn't the most non life threatening btw.Navy education
4.I will not speak on behalf of the army(preference)
So u said that you couldn't be a pilot beacsue college...Not true every branch offers u chances to go through college paid by them.
Also did u know that going to college is required to become an officer. you have to at lest have a 4 year degree.(more money)
Airforce~ If you enlist straight out of high school, the Air Force offers exclusive programs and hands-on experience to help you succeed. Plus you won’t have to pay for it on your own. The Air Force offers a number of financial assistance programs to help our Airmen at all levels
Also take this into consideration. U can enlist as reserve and attend school get your degree then go to OCS(officer candidate school). Itll be easier since you have already been through boot camp. Army has tons of spec ops. Green berets-D force- Rangers- Nighstalkers Any questions pm me

The marines are owned by the navy. The marines spec-ops missions are directed by Navy.

"Roses are red, violets are blue, faces like yours belong in the zoo. Don't be mad, I'll be there too. Not in the cage but laughing at you.".

Joining the military now is a sure way to die, especially since there is a high chance that world war 3 will be coming soon.
If you do join the military, I suggest you buy a few ASVAB books, and take the quizzes, just so you know what you will be tested on, you can't just go in and ask for what job you want, they test you on it with the ASVAB.
If you get a high enough score on any part of the test, there is a higher chance of getting a job for that quiz, such as the mechanical comprehension quiz, which will allow you to become an engineer, if you get a high enough score.
Also, if you DO join the military with a low score, you will most likely be cannon fodder, and sent to your death in afghanistan, or some other place that has a high chance of death.
Of course if you join and manage to come back alive, then you will enjoy all of the benefits :P.

Go Airforce, always. I'm joining the army fulltime next year and have done it part time for almost two years now. Granted, the Australian Army is treated much better than the American Army, but still, our Airforce is treated even better. Airforce is less regimented, less physical and in the end if you still aren't clever enough to do they fun jobs, you can do the easy jobs for decent pay, cheap housing etc.

My reasons are my own, but I'll tell you who aren't dying overseas, the Airforce. Especially the guy that handles supplies and maintenance and so on.

ALL HAIL THE METAPHOR!!
I'm not sure how is it in the US. But where I live, people at first go to recruit camp, train and check what they can become. (For example, the best shooters are given a possibility to become snipers and stuff).
In Australia you have to do a logic and reasoning test, for some people it i difficult but if you practice enough anyone can get top scores and be asked to be a pilot.

Just to let you know, I am reading all of these, but there is not really any reason to reply, but any response helps.

Don't mean to gravedig but it didn't seem like you got any information you really wanted.

I recently joined the Royal New Zealand Airforce as communications and have been in for the last 6-7 months.

The force you want to join really depends on your own personal preference and what you are like.

The Air force for me was the smart choice, I find it the most relaxed out of the 3 Defense Forces and it has a work smarter not harder sort of feel to it.

The Army, everybody I have met in the army so far has been your typical I guess football player in highschool, Big, Muscly, sporty and loud. Lots of fighting and drinking and seem to have it pretty hard.

The Navy
Haven't seen/spoke to many of these guys. Seem to be similar to the Air force but I just couldn't spend all that time on a boat.

Just a brief summary I know but if you have any questions flick us a pm.
