Strangely enough, I've heard people get into arguments over what's a "BB Gun" and what's an "airsoft" gun.
The general consensus seems to be that a "BB Gun" is any air gun that takes small 4.5mm
metal pellets, whereas "Airsoft" covers 6mm
plastic pellets or larger.
BB guns aren't meant to be shot at people (i.e. used for target shooting) as the metal pellets could probably do some damage. Airsoft guns on the other hand
are meant to be shot at each other hence the "soft" plastic pellets - but you still have to wear protective gear, especially eye protection.

What do you mean by "justified" by the way? Minors in most parts of the world aren't even allowed to buy airsoft/BB guns anyway.
