No matter your opinion, comparing a gay person to someone who kills people is pretty fucked up and wrong.

I tried my best but I couldn't find the part where he compares them to terrorists.
Though, as someone who went to a Christian school, I know all sin is equal, homosexuals and terrorists are equal in the eyes of God. Though so is the guy who told a child that Santa is real, that's just the way Christianity works, some sin is not better than others.

False dichotomy.

I completely agree.
He disagrees with homosexuality yet is willing to respect others regardless. Why is it impossible for us to show him the same in return?
He's not even intolerant, he just disagrees - he is very tolerant...
If he was pro-homosexuality, that's not tolerance, how can you tolerate something you are /for/?

You aren't trying to convince him homosexuality is fine, you are trying to convince him that his religion is wrong.

I'm not sure the rest of the world has this concept. Everyone's used to USA firing some guy over a twitter comment, despite him being able to fulfill his job because "it doesn't fit the company image". But be aware that to everyone else this is insane.
I like that it was fairly implicit that a southern Christian wouldn't approve of homosexuality, yet when he actually said "It doesn't appeal to me, but I still respect them" they got all up in arms.
