I agree with you 100% Squid. I recently started playing Toribash after a year or so away. Moves that I saw (and used) when I first joined are still being used now. Wushu is terrible for this because you require a opener that has some effect on the opponent, you want to hit them hard. So moves that have already been thought up and written down aren't hard to do, they're very accessible. You really need to enjoy the game enough in order to make up your own moves. In a perfect world every game would be exciting and no two moves would be the same, but unfortunately people will just fall back on moves that have been used over and over, moves that work.
