Secret Santa 2024
To me a choice at my life and a few other's or release a stupid movie for people's entertainment, I'd cancel that shit also.

Is a stupid movie really worth it.

North Korea denies involvement. I'd say it's probably a US and allies effort to turn public opinion against NK (not that the public thinks much of NK to begin with). It would be too big of a flop from NK's part to do this.
It is much more likely to be a random hacker group who just claimed to be NK than the US attacking one of its larger companies (although I am not well read on such matters I don't think Sony does too much tax evasion). Sony employs a load of people so is of benefit to the economy so it would be ill advised to attack it when there are much easier, less risky ways to make NK look bad (such as allowing movies making fun of NK to be show in cinemas... Like "the interview"). Furthermore there isn't much need for then to make the populace hate NK any more than they did already. I doubt a cyber attack is really going to persuade people to support a declaration of war.

Because of course North Korea is going to say "You got us guys, it really was us all along. Shucks and we really thought we were going to get away with it by trying to make it look like a hacker group." if they really did it. They are the most transparent and trusty worthy nation on the planet, and we should always take their word as truth.

And I fail to see how this would be a flop on North Korea's part. They just used cyber espionage against another nation and were successful. To hell if people know, short of invading them, there's virtually nothing we can do to North Korea that hasn't already been done.

Ironically people are air dropping the "dictator" film on NK in DVD form so if you want to see the movie NK is attacking then you best bet is to go to NK.

But, wouldn't that just propel movie into cult status, shown in the private cinemas, in homes on DVDs, making it a hit although its probably isn't. Not having a huge promotion and theater release doesn't mean no one will see the movie, at the contrary, in some cases it even made more people to see it, getting a huge fame in the underground.

I'm sure someone will find a way to prosper from the situation on the black market and so.

What then?
Django: You can clean up the mess, but don't touch my coffin.
Well, then Rogen and Franco become even bigger stars and go on to make another 10 stoner comedies for us all to enjoy. For sure more people are going to watch The Interview now.
I believe the decision to remove the movie was stupid, and only makes them succumb more to terrorists.

I would have laughed that people were going to bomb over a movie, and continue with the release.
Looks like they manned up and released the film.

Of course we don't want to dismiss the idea that this could've all been a marketing ploy.
The past makes you wanna die out of regret, and future makes you depressed out of anxiety. So by elimination, the present is likely the happiest time.

of course it probably wasn't right away, but I'm sure some marketer at sony realised
'hey! we can hype this shit up thanks to North Korea'

so yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if this was a marketing ploy
