Secret Santa 2024
Sparring mod is the most realistic. Yes, people cooperate in it but the mod itself has the posibility for realistic fights.
As for aikido variants: In my opinion those unbreakable grabs cannot be realistic in any sense.

I've to agree, lolnade does give us a glimpse of the horror of war and mutilation.
MAS is a competitive realistic mod, the only thing you will say to your opponent is "hey, you need to get more realistic" and it's all.
Keep walking
How realistic a replay looks largely depends on how the players played the mod. But my pick is borba3, a mod I made a while back. The goal is to push/throw your opponent out of the ring. There is a very high gravity, very high dismember threshold, and no grabs - the elongated hands are there so you can hook your opponent's limbs to manipulate his body.

The realism goes away when you say no grabbing. But, this mod itself sounds fun and realistic besides no grab. I'd like to play this some time. (Plus elongated hands .-.)

I strongly disagree. In a choice between unbreakable super-glue grab and no grab at all, I think the no grab option is more realistic by far. If toribash had a sophisticated grab mechanic that varied grab strength based on location of the grab and the force applied to it, then it would be a different story.

In real life (no gi) grappling there are a precious few places you can securely grab onto your opponent, such as his wrists (wrist control!) and ankles. A great deal of grappling is done by simply hooking opponent's limbs with your arms and legs.

Anyway, give it a try.

Yeah, I guess you're right. If grabs could be broken due to the force of the pull, which makes you un grab, Yeah. The geabbing in Toribash is pretty ridiculous. I see what you mean now.
