i read up on it a little and part of the reason why isis became so popular/such a threat was due to the disbanding of the iraqi army, american trained and funded, after the goverment was toppled and our top brass didn't need them anymore or something. this made thousands of men with military angry with america for abandoning them n stuff. the leader of isis used the revolt in syria to recruit more angry people i think. i might be talking out my ass but idk.

I'm sorry, ISIS is very much aware of what they are doing. ISIS goal with the terror attacks is to create tension between "westeners" and muslims. That very tension is the reason muslims get involved with radicals. When you ailienate a group because of their values, they are bound to get more radical.
Similarly, the extreme right wants to convince people that muslims cannot live with westeners by presenting the acts of ISIS as "evidence" that muslims are evil/aren't "compatible" with western values.
