Wrong
People are afraid of a lot of things.
If you are afraid of your leg being bitten by a dog doesn't mean there is any mystery to it. You get bitten, you experience pain and loss of blood, as well as possible long-term injury - none of those sound appealing.
Some fears of ours are hardwired in our brain because of evolution of our DNA. Most people are afraid of spiders, for example, since being afraid of spiders is evolutionary benefit. Example: Bob is really not afraid of spiders, so one time on a trip to Australia he decided to pick up that cool funnelweb spider. Unfortunately the spider didn't like that and bit Bob, who later died in a hospital in excruciating pain. Bob moved on young and didn't have time to have kids to pass on his spider-loving genes to.
So, even if you are 100% certain that he spider you are looking at is harmless, you probably still won't want to touch it, due to instinct.
As for what comes after death - I don't know.
My best guess is that nothing happens, since your brain is destroyed a few minutes after your heart stops pumping blood there. "You" probably simply disappear, because the storage device which contained said "you" is not functional any more. Your memories, behavior, consciousness, etc - all gone.
All that's left is a large chunk of meat and bones.
Have you ever lost consciousness? If not, ask some jujitsu practitioner or anyone with knowledge to choke you out for a few seconds (rear naked choke). Well, now imagine never coming back from that state ;)
