5 fingers or not the cloth on the hand just looks odd like how it meets only the middle finger and such.

Yeah, Even though they are bent you can clearly tell they are the same size each, which isn't possible for fingers (more specifically the thumb) to do. otherwise good work.

He's referring to the thumb being behind the skull I think while having 5 fingers visible on top.

yeah this exactly, i even experimented my own to see what the pov is but it still doesn't make sense, personally my thumb can't bend that much
