Indeed.
And it would slow down the development big time. Coding in this many joints seems to be fine, but having to put in more could really alter the game and its interface.
The game is fine as it is. It's like adding an ingredient to an already perfect recipe.

Along with breaking all the mods and replays, the game would run worse, because there are that many more calculations. Those of you who can barely run the game with shaders, or run it with 30ish fps will be unable to play a version with more joints.

Maybe later when the hardware gets better.
