this is honestly a pretty stupid post, obviously it’s going to be subjective (said like it’s objective because that’s how arguments work) and you really had no reason to say he had 20iq when you (barely) argued on only one point that he had without even mentioning any of the 12 other points
and honestly most of the major points are objective anyways so idk what you’re trying to say there
Isn't that hard to insert images, forum isn't broken, it's just like any other forum, the only thing is that the game forces you to use it for now, like, any player-player transaction is trough it.
By the way, the weird letters that appear after the first turn are the joint states (hold, relax, forward, backward I think) basically its the way it saves the move and stores the info of how many times an opener has been used. Also the movesaver script uses that info. Definitely not a bug.
You compare Toribash's item exchange system to that of TF2 but you miss one thing where Valve actually makes profit off any item sales in their marketplace - whereas we don't charge users extra for using market. There are ways to gain extra TC (for newer users that's primarily daily logins, those give up to 2K per week), so I wouldn't really agree with the point that gaining TC is extremely complicated, especially when you consider the fact that shop prices are lower than they used to be years ago whereas the number of ways to gain TC at no expense has increased. Yes it requires some grind but nothing out of ordinary for F2P games.
I'm not sure how premade phrases would improve player communication. In my opinion, that'd only have negative effect because users would rather use basic "Good luck!" and "That's too bad!" phrases instead of actually speaking to each other in chat. Approach you've mentioned is good for action-packed games (shooters, MOBAs) when a player doesn't want to use VC, but I can barely see a game like Toribash making use of it.
The lack of advertisment point has been raised probably a hundred of times now but I still stand by my point about it: you can't advertise a game with almost zero retention. If it's ever fixed in Toribash, there will be some advertising. Otherwise, we can spend any money on getting youtubers play it, but that'd all come to waste because people will drop out within 10 minutes due to all the issues you listed.
What about Gorman's constructions? The one he prepared for 5.0 (that OP included). That is similar to the current models, just aesthetically superior and not reminiscent of 2006. I can put you in touch with him if you want.
and honestly most of the major points are objective anyways so idk what you’re trying to say there
Thanks everybody for your time to opinions and support. Especially thank you "-sir" for providing me with comprehensive yet substantive reply and assuring that some of my suggestions will be implemented. And now... woo! A few people actually found my work useful! And I made an impact, because one of the devs agreed with most of my points! Now I can die in peace knowing that I actually accomplished in my life say "mission accomplished".
Idk, if I'll ever get back to Toribash before Toribash Next will be out, but I encourage you to write more constructive criticism, both in this thread and your own ones, because when it comes to indie games you have quite precious right to influence shaping the game to your liking as well as helping worthwile content be seen by more people.
Peace out, and I'll check this thread at least once again in a few days.
To be fair, you are extremely lucky to have a dev even glance at your post, letalone reply.
Biggest flaw of this game is that 90% of valid criticism and ideas are ignored or forgotten. There is also little to no communication from dev team or anyone representing them, leaving people demotivated to give any feedback.
Admittedly I've seen a lot of progress in that regard recently, but years of this problem damaged Toribash greatly
It'd also be extremely complicated to make a good AI that would at least be of the same "skill" level as a regular black belt player - and running one would (most likely) require a bunch of 2080ti's to handle for a player (keep in mind that it'd have to make decisions in run-time so all calculations would need to be done on user's machines).
The models are what makes this game special. MAS is a "Martial Arts Spar" look into it, it's exactly what you wanted. Players are able to mimick exact martial arts moves i dont think theres that much of a problem with the models(Tori's) If you want a realistic gravity -30 is the standard and if you want it more realistic go for -45! why not right? Now ofc you can not perfectly run like a human because Tori's are not humans! They are a Humanoid!
