Actually...chichidan is how I know it's spelled. And IIRC sho doesn't mean 1, but Ichi means 1...O_o I thought it was Ichidan, Nidan, Sandan, Yondan, Godan, Rokudan, Chichidan, Hachidan, Kyuudan, Juudan...
Re: Subtitles: What do they mean?
Ichi = 1
ni = 2
san = 3
shi / yon = 4
go = 5
roku = 6
sichi / nana = 7
hachi = 8
ku / kyu = 9
ju / jyu = 10

Dan means rank or degree I think; however, I am not sure the current ranks are accurate because of first degree being Shodan. I also think that Hanshi means highest rank, but I am not sure. Example, Del saito is only an 8th degree black belt, but we call him Hanshi Saito. He is my sensei's sensei. He is also the highest ranked person in the shito-ryu style karate I study.

Re: Subtitles: What do they mean?
kyu can be spelled kyuu
jyu can be spelled jyuu and even juu
sichi can be spelled chichi

It's basic romanji rules, most sounds can be romanized in different ways. The above are the most often used by americans and british people.

Don't take life too seriously, you never get out of it alive anyways.
