I'm just stupid ignore me. Honest to god that's a concerning April fools.
It also breaks every link normally going to a url with your username in it. So it's also functionality breaking.
I nominate it for dumbest April fools in response to my own failure.

Yeah I'm embarrassed now. I'm just going to code and pretend none of that happened.

That's a good idea. It keeps superfluous conversation out of posts while encouraging the use of a more instant means of communication.
