I personally choose Xbox360, PS3 won at graphic departement but X360 is still good enough, especially if you dont give a damn about graphic so much.
Games variety are same, but it seems this year many developer releasing their games at pc or X so there will be more games for X later.
Nothing so different for the controller if you get used to old xbox controller you should be able to handle this one, it also goes with ps3 too, no different from ps2. X360 controller need batteries, while PS3 need to be recharge every 4 to 6 hours if i remember.
If you want to know exclusive only games, i think there is a section that discuss about that at ign, for both consoles.

Oh, and i read in game and technology related magazine from my country that someone already knew how to playing fake games on PS3, piracy for PS3 sooner or later.

In case you might intrested in wii, it got worst graphics than the other two but of course it has a LOT game variations too, though you need to buy the other special controller to get a better gamming experience for example a gun or tennis controler, well you can still play with the normal one.

my cousin got a xbox360

2 months later it broke(HE PROTECTED IT AND TOOK CARE OF IT LIKE IT WAS HIS LIFE BTW)

so he got it fixed(not for free) nad 5 months later it broke again

so he had to get it fixed...AGAIN then 3 months later guess what? ....IT BROKE AGAIN

so he had to get it repaired

AGAIN

and the funny thing is...every time he had to fix it IT GOT REPLACED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and on the last time he found a hot dog in his xbox/..(he had never opened it but he wanted to see what it looked like inside)
so his dad just unscrewed the one side to show him and there was a hot dog sausage :P

the amount of money he spent on his xbox repairing it alone would be more then enough then a ps3

i have a friend who has a ps3

he has had it for 2 years(well ive known him for 2 years but i think he has had it for 2 and a half)
but the ps3 is practicly brand new

he plays on it everyday so its not like my cousin played more then him

I'l explain why you should get a PS3:
Difference between Xbox360 and PS3 (Price, abilities, etc):
- PS3 costs about 300 pounds(I don't know your currency, but you can convert it via internet). This comes with free internet, a controller and a console(maybe a game if there is an offer)
Xbox360 costs about 200 pounds, but for this you need to buy staff like:
-Xbox Live for 40 pounds, More memory for about 50 pounds, and etc.

And then, both counts up to 300, and for that price PS3 is much better.
