It depends how you define ok. Would I marry someone i disliked exclusively for material gains if i had the opportunity? Hopefully not. Is it "wrong" enough for the government or some authority figure to step in and say it's not allowed? No.

In more recent history we have that choice. The concept of love you are talking about is, in my opinion, mostly a modern invention.
For centuries the main purpose of marriage was survival, i.e. money, possessions etc...
Even today, most married couples will admit, with no sense of guilt, that money played at least SOME role in choosing their spouse. Its easy to write it off (as I often do) as soulless when we have grown up satirized with a concept of love that is mostly used to sell movies...
Bottom line, Its not wrong, people do what they will, make your own choices, and don't patronize shitty love movies :P
