That is kinda my point. I mean, when all is said and done it doesn't really matter. I guess it just irks me when I see it because it is using what most people would consider to be obscure language when there is no need for it and it is easy to try to use that to add a fake validity to an argument. It's like Denis Miller, he will use obscure ass references that barely hold together just because he knows not many people know about them and it makes him sound intelligent.

Again, I understand that people from different parts of Europe say "Tis" and other things I myself might not be used to, and honestly if this forum is improving peoples grammar I say "MAOR" (which I never say irl :P) God knows mine is nowhere near perfect...but it was a thought I had after reading some posts and I figured I would see what people had to say about it.

Again, just something to chew on.

I use "difficult" words sometimes, but I use them because of what they mean. In most cases when I'm serious (which is 95% of the time on the discussions board, and the 5% you can spot), I write exactly what I mean as well as I can.

So "awkward" wording and structure of sentences are either just to pinpoint what exactly I mean, or because that's how it occurs best to my non-native English speaker brain.

Plus, I actually do speak a bit too posh than might be good for me. Sometimes I get made fun of because of using technical terms, or even knowing the less usual of them.

"I get made fun of" instead of "people make fun of me" is an example of how my posts might come across complicated and why. There's a big difference, though, since to me, "people make fun of me" would imply that I was constantly pestered, which hasn't been the case for soon four years.

Like CnC? Most people do. Be a dear and spread the love!
LOL, who says 'Tis'?

Anyways, I speak how I would normally speak. Using technical words makes you sound more like you know what you are talking about I guess. I've never come across anyone in Discussion who speaks the way deady described. Maybe I just don't visit it that often.

._.

Just because I'm educated...

"thus·ly (sl)
adv. Usage Problem
Thus.
Usage Note: Thusly was introduced in the 19th century as an alternative to thus in sentences such as Hold it thus or He put it thus. It appears to have first been used by humorists, who may have been echoing the speech of poorly educated people straining to sound stylish. The word has subsequently gained some currency in educated usage, but it is still often regarded as incorrect. A large majority of the Usage Panel found it unacceptable in an earlier survey. In formal writing thus can still be used as in the examples above; in other styles this way, like this, and other such expressions are more natural."

Keep fuckin that chicken :P also, case and point.

Actually, Wikipedia is fairly reliable. They have a team of people who go through and cross reference everything to make sure the info is right.

Except that anyone can edit a page to make it say whatever they want (as long as they provide references)

Didn't you read my post? I just got done saying that there are people who correct that stuff. Don't make me get the paddle.

Internet culture is different from real life culture Deady. Do you talk to your mates the same way that you talk to your parents? or your grandparents? or your boss?

So you are telling us something we already know in a way that will provoke responses.

How about stop trolling...

Jared is entirely correct. All edits are checked and cross referenced, and all uncited material either removed completely or left partial.

Wikipedia is a lot more reliable than it used to do. Just remember that there are hundreds thousands of people of people who know more than you writing to help you, there are only maybe a few hundred arseholes writing against you saying things like "Obama is a nigger who loved his chicken and has a penis over 9000m long", which will be fixed within 24 hours, if not less.
