Secret Santa 2024
Well, I've never been elitist. Ask anyone on here. In fact, I've gone out of my way to help newbies, including a period of letting them join my clan so we could 'mentor' them.
Hell, I almost never have tc in my account. The only reason I was a member of the PT, and have some community respect, is because of my OLDA vid and my refusal to stop trying to improve TB. (The worldbuilder and shader functions in particular)
Also the fact that I'm not a dick unless someone really deserves it.
Justice for all, etc.
infamous
Well, I don't know if I am or have been an elitist faggot who always boasts about how cool, impressive and good I am and how "much" I have done for the community, but I still agree with you completely, CMon...
I don't really have anything else to say, because everyone has said what was needed to be said.

I just can't understand why most of the people think that when someone has joined earlier and/or has lower post count, that person is a lower being, and you are higher, respected...
It's like some of those super rich fags in real life, who demand others to bow before them, just because they have more money and/or power.

It's ridiculous, I say. Ridiculous. Stupid. Disgusting.

And now, when I read some of the posts in this thread, there still was those who boasted about their achievements and how they're not elitist and they tend to help newbies all the time...
Makes me rage.
I haven't done anything for the community, neither am I known by most of the people because I don't do boomhits all the time or do fancy art.
Maybe just a few old schoolers and a few who I have helped out know me.
But that's pretty much it. :v

EDIT: I think I gotta stop saying "I don't have anything else to say".

very well written, CMon. completely agree, I think people are overly shunning of the newcomers in the forums... about IRC, you usually get respect if you respect other people.

I'm one of them ;)
Edit: Oh God, I didn't read word "elitist"
I'm no elitist D:

Nice thread, Cmon. I hope it changes some peoples views as it did mine.

Honestly, you're a decent guy out of wibbles.

It has awakened. WE MUST SACRIFICE TO THE BLOOD GOD.

Also something that got brought out earlier- there are a fair amount of people who act like dicks because they're pretty low on the social ladder in real life. It gives them a chance to hold the 'power', if you will, an escape from their actual droll lives. There are others who are just trying to fit in with the other souleaters on the forum by acting 'cool' and attacking everyone they possibly can.

tl;dr while they may be dicks you shouldn't take anything an elitist says/does too personally because there's probably an underlying reason for them doing that. If you, on the the hand, brush off their comments and ignore them, they get a deflated ego and start looking to see what they could've done for this terrible tragedy to happen, and then they might start acting like less of a dick.
How to complain in style: GG, Mahulk.
Totally agreed with CMon. Elitism is awful, and even though i am guilty of doing it a few times, it's not something i condone. As a matter of fact, i hate it. As was expected of people in my primary school, i expect older and more experienced people to be role models for the young 'uns. For that reason, when i'm not failing around in Wibbles (where i grossly exaggerate my negative characteristics), i talk to people as equals. Or rather, i think i do. I don't know what other people think.

Such modesty!

But seriously, good rant CMon. I really only dislike new members that think they know their way around the forum and try to "mentor" the newer members, which in reality is just flaming them and giving them shitty advice.
I've actually been around since Feb of '08 (look up flavin8r), but went through a period of inactivity, and when I came back, my pal Stickicide showed me the ropes again. But, as Smiley said, I think the community has gotten at least a bit better about treating new members well. I don't remember getting flamed at all on my old accounts, even though my join date was indicative of newfaggotry.

Actually, join dates do affect how people act towards you. I create alts all the time, and then treat a lot of people like the morons/assholes they are on the forums, and guess what? - In their raging, hate filled replies, they always use ''newfag'', "noob", "other word referencing my join date" etc, and i get different reactions when trolling morons than i do with my main.
Cmon, i think you are absolutely 100% right.

But sometimes some of the older toribashers also just get hyped up, wich makes them seem like total idiots to, but i guess thats just the people hyping them up.

Strange how some of the High-and-Mighty can be so condicending to people that just started out, also when these guys lose to a blackbelt or a blue belt or whatever its suddenly allways luck, never just a good job to defeat someone that has 12000 more games experience.
