ITT: people who don't know how logic works

I keep my attention on the road. I don't LOOK at the phone while texting. Well, I do if I'm stopped for whatever reasons, but I don't if I'm actually doing some driving. What's the harm? Nothing has happened in almost a decade of driving, to me.
Some people can do it fine, some people are morons. But I still think it should be illegal, just because it's not going to be the kind of thing you get pulled over for. It'll probably be something they add to the charges if you smash into someone.

People lack sense, and I'm sick of having to slam the breaks on because the crettin in front is too engrossed with their phone. It's even worse when you see people with their kids in the car while they're doing it.

Personally I can't wait for the new laws to pass through here banning ANY use of mobile phones in cars. Hopefully people will pay more attention to that than the current law, I mean FFS - you're supposed to pull over at a 'safe place', not just wang your car on the side of the road where you are. Gah other drivers make me rage.

[In current UK law there's a loophole that means it's still legal to text or email etc on a phone while driving.]

First: If you type, you have just one hand left to drive your car. That increases the risk a lot.
Second: If you write a text-message while driving, you will, most probably, get an answer soon. If you want to reply the answer you'll have to read it first. And to read, you'll have to use your eyes... And if you are honest, you would answer it, right?

If I were you, I would believe the stats. Beeing irresponsible on streets can kill other people, too, you should not forget that.

Sorry, but it makes me REALLY angry. There could be people in forums who losed affiliated because of shit like that. Think about it.

Have a nice evening.

EDIT: According to studies, reading while driving increases the risk of an accident multipled by 23.

Don't take me serious. If you feel offended... I'm just kidding.

Just wondering, do you even drive? I've only met one person who grabs the steering wheel both-handed, and he had his leg amputated from a car crash 2 years ago.

One thing is actually losing focus on the actual driving when doing something else - I frown upon that.
But doing something you're so used to doing, you barely pay any attention to it at all - no problemo.

I read texts when the car is stopped, plus I only text if it's something really urgent. Do I feel it's wrong? Yes, if it's taking away from my driving. No, if I can keep my focus.

Oh, and I'll have the source of those studies, please.

It's not like you sit there staring at a screen for several minutes to read a little text bro. Even if your stats are legit, they're not referring to texting.

No, I do not drive a car. And I know that you don't have to use both hands to drive. But what is about changing gear?
Also, if you had to avoid hitting an other car, I'm quite sure that you'd it manage better with both hands.

I could imagine that this was the thought of the driver who killed a relative of mine. They found out that he was phoning then.

Sorry, if I was ignorant, but it is a dodgy topic for me.

Next time, when you present studies, make sure to include actual evidence of them, so you don't get instantly called out for links.

Anyway, I agree with you to a point, yes, and I've already stated my thoughts on this.
Yeah using your cellphone while driving is now illeagle where i live. You get a $167 fine for even looking at your phone in a drivethrough.

If you're texting while driving part of your attention is on your fingers clicking letters rather than watching the road and avoiding hitting somebody. I think it's fine as long as you only do it while stopped or on an empty road.
