Have you ever heard about Symphonic Metal?
In case you haven't, it's Metal, but with a symphonic orchestra in the background, giving the Music a rather Opera-ish style. Singers in this music style usually have a background in Opera, and a lot of them actually sing in an Opera voice.
The first things that come to mind for me are:
Summoning
Nightwish
Yeah. However, a lot of people might get headaches from this kind of music, so if Opera singing makes your ears shatter, don't bother. But personally, this is my favorite kind of music.
