Macs are weaker too.

The laptop you posted would wipe the floor with any ibooks available, that's for sure. The hd mobility 5870 is beast.

Also, microsoft office works better on windows from what I've heard, just like how itunes works better on OS X.

Running bootcamp would add the cost of buying the windows OS, an added cost.

Also, congrats on getting into Duke!

I have a few friends going there next year, maybe you'll be in the same classes!

OSX is a better os than 7/vista/xp, hands down.
If you think your OSX is bad because it spazzed out, then you do not want to use windows.
If you're already used to Mac, then why not trying something free and good such as Linux? Mac users are know to have an easier learning curve when they switch to Linux than windows users.
Personally I recommend you Linux Mint 9.
Then tweak it to make it suit your needs... You can get it to look something like this:

Like most people know, Linux is highly customizable, much more than windows and mac.
By default the new Linux Mint 9 looks like this:

I don't think that the OSX is bad. I love the OSX, but I wanted to try something different. As for understanding Window's operating system, see below.

Genkisudo, I did consider Linux for a while, but I think it would be easier for me just to go back to Windows. I was actually a big Windows user about 5 years ago before I switched to Mac. My school's computers are all XP, and I run XP on parallels on my Mac. Back then I did not completely utilize my PC's capabilities when I was younger, but I now know what possibilities there are.

You can still use both in a dual boot configuration, as Linux boots faster...
Thats what I use. Dual boot with Windows 7 and Linux Mint. Even tough Windows 7 is a lot better than Windows Vista, its still not as fast and secure as Linux. ;)
I use Windows 7 mainly for gaming, only because I'm "forced" to if I want to play most of the games, otherwise I wouldn't even bother to use windows.

I am both a Mac and Windows 7 user. The only reason I got a PC, was so I could play games on it. My OSX has been pretty good over the years, except for a couple weird incidents, but it's done me well so you might want to just stick with it (have had a lot more problems with my PC too :P)

Games = Windows.
Work = Mac.

I'll give reasons after you answer. :P

a) Steam is now available on Macs and therefore games, but yes alot more are on windows.

b) Windows is ideal for work wether its from word processing to programing. Plus for paid work more businesses use windows and therefore contain the same compatibility.

Me persoanlly am a windows fan they are cheaper, plus I think mac's are more of a fashion accessory than a tool.
My theory so far is whatever a mac can do windows can do better.
