Forgot to mention, buying US stuff is awesome right now, since the US economy is so insanely shit that the AUD > USD.

You don't say?
My laptop arrives today @_@

I'm so excited!

I'm going to make this one as web based as I can, so no open office for me, etc!
Going to be so cash!

This is the one I ended up getting; 1.8k
Processor--------------Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-820QM (1.73 GHz, 8MB L3 Cache) Turbo Boost up to 3.06 GHz
Display type-----------15.6" Full HD (1920x1080) Widescreen LED Display with ASUS Splendid Video Intelligent Technology
System graphics-------NVIDIA GTX 460M 1.5GB GDDR5 Graphics Card
Total memory----------16 GB (4 x 4GB) DDR3 1333MHz
Hard drive-------------64GB Crucial RealSSD C300 Solid State Drive (265MB/s, TRIM) HDD#1 + 1TB 5400rpm HDD#2
Optical drive-----------Blu-Ray ROM with SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-R/RW Dual Layer

Expensive and excessive, but I felt like going that way...

16gb's of ram for a web based laptop?
Overkill.
Could as well have bought a 500 dollars one.
f=m*a syens
pretty sure he's going for "future proof" lol

either way 16gb is getting to be pretty standard these days and considering it is a high end laptop with a 64gb ssd and blu-ray drive i can understand why it has 16gb of memory.

a 500 laptop would likely only have 3-4gb of ram, a dvd drive, and a 250gb 5400rpm hdd

and probably only a dual core or cheap cheap cheap quad
You don't say?
Yup, felt like being excessive so I could have enough power.

But anyway, its kind of a bitch to move all my environment over to the HDD instead of the SSD (user, temp, etc)
Honestly i dont know why people didnt suggest the m15x Alienware. The new one is amazing. for 1,500 you can get: 15 Gigs RAM, 460m NVIDIDA graphics card with about 1.5 gigs of dedicated video memory, 15.1 in. screen. intel 17 quad core processor 2.8 ish gigahertz with 6 (mb or gb cant remember) cache.
It's really a pretty good deal for a laptop of that calibur
