This is a misrepresentation of how piracy works. They aren't stealing from buyers, they're stealing from the sellers.
Image if you own a car dealership. Instead of buying the car, they make a copy of it and drive off without paying you.

Yeah, it's a bit more of a problem then, huh?

Hey look more than two lines.
Piracy is just another exploitable law, its illegal, but so is underage drinking, and most people did that aswell.

The stuff i pirate, i dont particurly care for. play/listen to once, then move on and forget about it and gets lost inside the depths of my every growing collection of shit.
i wouldnt have bought it if i couldnt pirate it, and it wouldnt have phased me.
the stuff i listen to/play regularly are all legal.

Stuff like consoles, iTunes and Steam are bringing legality back though.
although the dlc system for steam is still exploitable...

I do not support piracy, but i dont know what id do without it...

Funny how they say we steal from them when we download shit for free, yet they charge music for 17$ a CD.
I think they have every right to sue, whether it's pure greed or not, they made it, they put time and money into it, why should everyone else get it for free? It's like if you make a toribash set that you want to keep, but then someone steals the flats. you'd be pissed off and want them put to justice, wouldn't you?

Name me a case (not photoshop) in which the price was too high.

Piracy, or getting items via illegal means, should not be tolerated.
In very rare cases, people pirate a program and if they like it, they buy it.

Lol i prefer to live my life, respect to stay here to compilate an infinite list of products that are clearly too expansive.

It's faster if i say the name of a product i found fair:mount & blade warband. You can find this game from 20€ to less(i paid it 13€).

A lot have to hit millions of sales to come close to breaking even.

I know it's possible to make a profit in an acceptable way(copyleft, just for say 1 example...or Toribash pc version[i don't talk about wii version because i don't know neither the price of it],League of Legends and much more).Who don't do this for me don't deserve any compassion,it's CLEAR i'll never steal(or piracy) to who act in a fair way(and i hope anyone would do it)
Piracy it's also a way for fight for i-consumers(but don't think i'm so stupid to think that's it only function. It exist mostly for permit to have things that you/we can't afford with money[and i'm totally pro even on this point]):it teach a lot to producters.Abuse it and you are worst than to who you are "stealing"

Mind = Blown

But seriously, bottom line imo is even though it's wrong, pirates gonna pirate.
Team America|7th Dan|
I pirated virtual villagers

Piracy can be bad for business of indie companies, stealing their profits and all.
the inner machinations of my mind are an enigma
indie companys are usually cheap enough that most people dont have to.
and alot of them go through steam

Alot of people forget the COST of some of this stuff that people pirate. The PERFECT example of this is Photoshop. I doubt anyone in their right mind will pay like 500-1000 dollars for a program like that, when there gimp out their for free (gimp doesnt have all the features though) So someone will get a torrent'ed version and everyone will most logically just get the free version. Alot of internet shit is expensive and is alot of money to drop on it (photoshop) If they want more people to buy, maybe they should consider lowering some of their prices.
"It is better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt." ...Mark Twain
People should want to pay for things, and things should be reasonably priced.

Eg games; as if I want to pay $100 for Call of Duty 32 (especially when it is the same as 31 but with more saturation). But I happily pay $100 for the Humble Indie Bundle.

I often buy software that is nice and also cheap. I also often buy nice games that are nice. But I don't buy $8000 Photoshop. Know what I'm sayain?
^

Reasonable pricing.

Do you think like $300 dollars for FL Studio is Overpriced? Some people do, but It's not. So they'll just pirate it.

Now, Is Photoshop pretty over priced? Yeah, a bit. But Pirating it has become a pain in the ass.

Time to shift discussion toward a new idea:
"Is it OK to Pirate overpriced programs?"

Discuss More.
