Honestly if the system is being abused then the system becomes useless and should be taken out. I come from forums where everyone is built on imformative posts and helping each other out. Instead of said "fail" and thats it people would try to help the new members out by letting them know the rules and trying to contribute to the thread. Also if the mods went through and deleted posts and threads that would be considered spam on the other forums half this forum would be gone.

I think showing the # of +Rep and the # of -Rep is a great idea!

Miscellaneous people giving you -rep shouldn't be a problem, because its not like most of toribash forum is made up of the random -/+ rep, no reason people. I think o.o

I like having a reputation system, the only annoying thing is getting abusive rep from people when you don't know who they are, i think that repping should be made none annonomous

And it is non-anonymous, if you're an admin or whatnot...

And I'm pretty sure there's an option to being able to see it or not...

I actually got two peices of really bad rep from other people, I told 3vi1 about it, he told me who left one of them and then the rep got sensored by veb, before it had loads of swear words and isults in it, and afterwards veb just inseterted the words "cool guy2 everytime they had wrote bitch or whatever

It shouldn't be too difficult to make normal people able to see who left rep though, if veb decides TO do it.

If this is the case then the system should be removed.

I would also like to add, that the names of the people repping should be displayed if the system is to become crediable. The reason is if someones name is to be displayed for some useless and pointless rep then that person would feel like a dumbass rather than the person recieving the rep. There for making a - or a + rep more valuable and making that worth something.

If the mods need help putting and setting this up i am glad to help in any way i can. Also getting the rep system cleaned up is the first step in making this a better and cleaner community to be part of.

I made this for a thread in wibbles about the same thing. Basically, it's fine because it doesn't matter. Keep it the same as it is now and we won't have any problems. Making it visible will cause abuse and the hated people will really feel bad, while some people will become obsessed with it (example: 1k for +rep plox).

Personally, I feel that the Reputation Points system being anonymous is a good point, on balance - it helps to combat "revenge" -repping. That is, if members of the community are mature enough not to be stupid with the system on the whole - which appears to occur a fair bit here. The concept of only members of 10 rep points or above being able to affect rep should help against morons -rep spamming (as they may well - as morons - have less than 10 total rep), but that concept also has disadvantages.

IMO they'll look like a dumbass than, getting more negative rep than positive. Unless they ask someone in private, but it would leak out anyways :P
