Yeah I guess tbh I'd be more inclined to stand there and watch as it fell to its death rather than make a difficult and painful attempt at catching it... I'm lazy though, so eh.

Yeeaahh, I'm almost possitive that I would to. I would like to be a hero, but sometimes you just have to let things happen in their own.

and no I do not shit you.

Of course you can't quite tell what the actual word is when using romanized writing.

I understand them all in some depth, and I think when a person is reacting to a baby falling, they will either insinctively try to catch the baby, freeze or turn away, I really doubt a person will start to consider the kinetic energy of the baby as it land in their arms.

I think I would have done the same thing, maybe I would have frozen but I don't think it takes a heroic effort to catch a baby.

Because the instinctive human reaction to an object falling towards them is to dive towards it and try to catch it.

Oh, and "I don't think it takes a heroic effort to catch a baby"? Did you miss the part where she's in the hospital recovering from multiple bone fractures? I don't think you understand how acceleration due to gravity works. See the addendum to my original post.

EDIT: Oh, and this.
"When she reached out to the child, she put her own life at risk," Jin Dengfeng, the hospital's president, told Xinhua. "She could have died or been paralyzed for the rest of her life if the child had hit her head or back."

Also,
Jin said Wu would need six months to recover from her injuries.

6 months to recover from all those broken bones. The woman is a hero and deserves to be seen as such.

Ok, we just have different ideas of heroism.

And I understand acceleration, kinetic energy, gravitational potential energy, impulse, etc. It has nothing to do with it being a heroic act or not. In a situation like that would you think about the physical impact the baby would have on you?

She might not run around in a cape and underpants or be able to shoot web, but yeah there are two main definitions of hero.

he·ro/ˈhi(ə)rō/Noun
1. A person, typically a man, who is admired for courage or noble qualities.
2. The chief male character in a book, play, or movie, who is typically identified with good qualities.

She clearly fits the first definition.

She clearly fits the first definition.

xD And I don't consider her actions courageous, noble maybe, but not courageous.

Stand on a sidewalk while I drop a 10 pound bowling ball from the 10th floor of a building into your arms. It took courage to catch that baby. By the way, this bowling ball has the ability to flail around, so watch your face... it might kick you in it. *hint hint*
