Pretty fucked up honestly, considering they are saying beating him to a bloody pulp wasn't the cause of his death, and it was related to his illness. He went into a coma and died a few days after. He would more than likely still be with us if nothing happened that night.

"Fullerton police Sgt Andrew Goodrich said that Thomas began to fight officers as they tried to search him.
He said: 'We don't know why he was so combative and resistant to the officers, but it took upwards of five to six officers to subdue him.'"

Firstly, that guy is a fucking moron. Obviously the guy had mental illnesses, and if his illness was so bad that he was resisting like that, they should have known right off the bat that he was sick. It definitely had something to do with the officers, and I don't care what anyone else says, that shit was pure bullying and those guys need to serve time. I mean come on, the victim died over something with could have been very minor in a lot of cases.

"He said police are conducting an internal investigation into the officers' actions and the District Attorney's Office is conducting a criminal investigation."

I'm glad about this, at least. Hopefully some justice will be done. I have a few friends I've met online who are cops in real life, and they have told me about stuff like this happening where a cop just decided to abuse his power and go out of control.

Aside from that, this happens everyday, mostly it's just not that bad. Sad story though

It couldn't have been an illness. If any you guys look at his face afterwards, I can't see that he died from an illness.

Exactly, but the article said that the only thing the officers would say is that he didn't die from their beatings and the only other possible way he could of suffered that much damage and gone into a coma was because of his mental illness. Obviously he would still be here today homeless on the streets if those cops hadn't caused so much trouble.

Now saying that, you already can see that these cops feel bad for what they did, and probably didn't realize what they were doing at the time. These guys were most likely bored, wanted some action, and chose the wrong person to mess with. They said he was resisting, and yes, people with mental illnesses don't know exactly what is happening all the time like humans so it was an instinctive reaction in their mindset to fight back which he stopped doing more than likely after the first taze was finished. Now if you guys read, the guy's father was actually a Deputy Sherriff. In the article, which came from an interview, he said he actually regrets being part of law enforcement and is handing out fliers to stop this stuff all around the place where his son was beaten and tazed.

He said "All we have left of our son is the blood in the gutter."
I'm still wondering why they had to beat him up so badly and for that amount of time, it's not like he could put up a fight against 5 cops, why couldn't they just put hand cuffs on him? That's what seems illogical to me if we're talking about 'decent' cops.
I read a book very similar to this story. "Little Brother" is about the DHS taking over California and doing shit like pepper spraying a huge crowd at an illiegal concert. There were even little kids there like 5 years old.

What I'm trying to say is, that the police should be more carefully picked. They have authority over us so we can't hit them if they do something they are not meant to. They also have weapons so they can do whatever the fuck they want.

That is a book. It is fictional. It is not based on a true story, it is not realistic, and it is not relevant.

Police, at least in CA, go through a rigorous application prcess including a physical test, a written test, an oral board, an extensive background check, a polygraph physiological test, and 6 months to a year of close supervision.

Hey look more than two lines.
Officers are given too much power and that power will never be taken away, unfortunately.
They are given two years in jail for KILLING someone.

Is that fair? No.
its a shame of how much cops abuse their "abilities" and thinking they would not get punished for their decisions aswell
It seems like only the police don't go to jail that long for murdering somebody.
I hope the officer that recruited these people get fired.
