Secret Santa 2024
Just a reminder at the G20 summit a police officer was forced to dispute man slaughter claims when a woman was apparently dealt with in a manner that was too heavy handed. This should be considered before we criticize the police for taking a gentle stance toward this, the last thing they want is another case like this on their hands.
I laughed when I saw the news, and heard some sociologist talking about what triggered the riots. You see people burning houses and looting shops, it isn't about the racism in the police or the youth unemployment otherwise they would attack police stations and such buildings.
This is about gratuitous violence, the youth just wants a pretext to destroy things.

I would aproove a riot that could have strong points behind it.

I say watercannon and teargas over them.

Except that whole thing about the police shooting a black guy did start it. Everyone just joined in because they saw how easy it was to loot places.

I guess that the police underestimated the first non violent protest. Everyone knows that in a non violent protest there is always 1 individual that just wants to do shit. The police where in small numbers compared to the protesters, so when the riot began the police had no way to stop looting and such acts.

Unsatisfied youth + pretext to violence = Riot

Otherwise, I totally agree. The scale it has hit now is just ridiculous.

ALL HAIL THE METAPHOR!!
The Government and therefore the police are too soft on things like this. 30 years ago they would've been able to beat the shit out of them with batons and that would be that.

I believe it's a bad idea for the army to be sent.
If the army is sent then there might as well be a war.
There will be curfews and restrictiveness.
Normal civilians who are neither on the police side or the rioters side could get killed.

And there would be more protests that police abuse citizens, riot /repeat until finally they would reach a point where they would say "fuck it" and go about things as how they do now.
