The books are alright, not the greatest things I've ever read. But it's got a nice character development throughout the books though.
At the start, he was a bit of a cock. However, not so much anymoar.

A good read is "The Power Of Five" series by Anthony Horowitz.
Also, read "The Supernaturalists" by Eoin Colfer (Same author as Artemis Fowl for the lazy-to-check).
