Should Toribash be free or not?

I think we should go back to having to buy the game in order to play it, rather than the game getting funded by boosters, which in turn gets rid of farming.
Also, we need more organised servers, with public servers like rk-mma, aikidobogdjo and other popular mods. This would bring the fun back to the game, and also a good idea would be for clans to buy a server which is premaritally there, named with the clan name and only members of that clan could join.

The reason why hampa made Toribash free was because no one was buying it.

I understand what you mean, maybe remove the toricredits feature and change it with the qi feature where you have to earn stuff by belts. (Which gives a purpose to the belts).

However, to take place of making Toribash free, they added boosters and items that cost money, and the reason why hampa added a few qi limits to a few items is so that people can enjoy the game so that they can buy the items.

click my sig for a great time (WIP)
im smoking weed out of a pussy filled with money i like this
It should be free. If it weren't, no one would pay for it. Micro-transactions seem to be the go-to nowadays, and it's been this way for years. Why bother fixing what isn't broke.
Preposterously dank.

yes, a lot more accounts created, but how many will stay? Toribash has a very steep learning curve and I can guarantee most players that come as a result of steam will stop playing within a few days.

this is the exact reason why you need a price tag. also if person invested money he will most likely get into playing, because he paid for game.

Sorry, it's a unique game and you can't apply 80s business models to it. If you put a price tag on it you more or less kill the stream of new players for simply short earnings. Most people will still not stick to it and you have A LOT less players in total.
By reducing the users to only the people who would pay for the game in the beginning you would probably experience huge drops in earnings in the long run.

The game lives from many people coming into the community and having a few stick around. Reducing the amount of players sticking to the game seems plain stupid. They easily make more money than the few who would actually pay for the game in the beginning.

Toribash used to be pay to play with a free demo model and I'm quite sure the earnings are way better now than they used to be back then.
Oblivion: that wasn't hilarious
Oblivion: it was brilliantly complex though

Oblivion: today I genuinely believe more than I ever did before

is $ 1 - 5 price tag now a 80s business model? such price tag can kill community?! are you kidding me?

if such harmless price tag sounds scary, then f2p model should be fixed to prevent withdrawing ingame currency. there should be only one agent player trade with - nabi.
this will exclude most of issues, only concern is art market, but i'm sure there is a way around aswell.

if hamp is so scared, he can do the same as mojang did with minecraft classic and separate it like minecraft classic f2p and minecraft, so there will be toribash f2p and toribash 5.0

he did that with all the versions pre 3.0
f2p demo and pay for full game.
the earnings have obviously increased since going to f2p, so why go back?
-=Art is never finished, only abandoned=-
As i see it hampa is making more money by making things only be bought by paypal and alot of people buy boosters
From the perspective the game is currently free to play, it would be way to dramatic to make it pay to play. They game that you have been playing for years .. You now can no longer play? Doesn't make sense to me.

And as a consumer, why would I want to pay anyways?
right on

1) 2 versions. like minecraft classic and minecraft.

2) devs task is to find a balance between everything4free and charge4everything, in other to find stuff players are willing to pay for. for f2p it's customization items, thats why there should be no other agents than torishop.
let's not forget that most of players don't bother to use forums, so means should be ingame based to reach the widest population.

if we are talking about price tag - balance can be thrown away, since person bought the game anyway.
