Because the phrase is redundant. Not only is it common knowledge that we only live once, but it's used completely out of context. If one were to only live once, why would they attempt stupid things? Things that could threaten that one time chance of life.

Think of it in the opposite manner. YODO (You only die Once). Someone exclaims "YODO" and then proceeds to put on their seat belt. Just doesn't make sense. YOLO isn't an excuse to do stupid things, it's more of a reminder that we should preserve life, not waste it.

Nah, you're both wrong. The real problem with today's youth is a lack of responsibility and consequence. Which ultimately led to an ignorant, self-centered, arrogant, self-proclaimed youth.

Because they couldn't say they were honest, strong, smart, or over-all skilled in anything, they had to make up a word they could use to substitute for the lack of legitimate personality traits none of them had. The word being "SWAG". Now, YOLO is just some sorry excuse to not face responsibility or to hide ignorance by claiming they're just not afraid or "ballsy" to do something.

The problem with today's youth is that they are all greedy little attention whores who have been utterly spoiled by the instant gratification of things such as text messaging and social networking. As such, they are willing to do just about anything when their usual means of getting lots of instant attention fail, they compensate by doing stupid shit to get people's attention.

And that is how the idiotic slang term "Yolo" was conceived, to allow these idiots to basically be a support group for each other. Stupid people doing stupid shit for attention. When an idiot does something stupid and shouts "Yolo", all the other mongoloids watch and applaud.

Instant gratification = BAAAAAD.

I find YOLO being used when someone has run out of ideas and usually unrelated to the subject at hand. Religous beliefs are also a factor.

In every generation there are some assholes saying that today's youth sucks for some reason.
100 years ago comics were considered bad for the very same reason and I bet there was some dude complaining that today's youth doesn't know how to fucking milk cows and plow acres anymore during the industrialization.
Technology evolves and so do we, big fucking deal.

Saying stuff like that makes you seem conservative on a reactionary level.
Saying it on a gaming forum on the internet makes you look like an idiot.

Yolo is just another trend. Keep talking about it and it will keep sticking.
